Description: Workplace harassment and bullying can lead to significant liability for an employer. Harassment based on an employee’s, sex, age, religion, national origin, or any other characteristic protected under an anti-discrimination law, is likely to constitute a violation of that law. An employer that condones harassing conduct in the workplace may well be liable for employment discrimination.

This webinar will discuss common types of harassing and bullying conduct and measures that a health center should take to prevent and remediate the affects of such conduct, including how to respond to “whistleblowers” and how to avoid liability for retaliation.

Description: Health centers, like other employers, can incur significant liability for violating employment laws, in particular anti-discrimination laws. Employment law, like other areas of law, is constantly changing as result of amendments to statutes and regulations and court decisions interpreting the law.

This webinar will discuss significant recent changes in federal anti-discrimination law, including the federal Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and, in particular, the new regulations regarding military family leave.

Description: The federal Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) requires most employers, including health centers, to pay minimum wage and overtime to covered employees. A health center’s workforce frequently includes an array of professional and nonprofessional employees working under full-time and part-time arrangements and who may be compensated on an hourly or salary basis, all of which can lead to FLSA compliance issues. This webinar will address the basic FLSA requirements as they impact health centers, including the standards under which employees may be exempt from the FLSA overtime provisions.
