Environmental Testing and Surveillance of Legionella
Legionella bacteria can become a health concern when they grow and spread in human-made building water systems. In this webinar we will discuss the ways Legionella bacteria can spread in the environment. We will highlight how environmental testing combined with whole genome sequencing can be used to reduce healthcare acquired Legionella infections.
Intended Audience
Intermediate Experience Needed. Refresher course; some basic knowledge required; for the experienced staff, local health officials, laboratorians, infection prevention, health care facilities technologist with some years of experience.
Learning Objectives
In this webinar, participants will learn to:
- Understand when and why routine environmental sampling for Legionella may be recommended.
- Develop a water management program using CDC Toolkit
- Understand how Whole Genome Sequencing can help with source tracking
